New Edge, Part 2/4
New Edge, Part 2/4
Edges are where we meet the world. Edges are where we interact.
When edges go dull, the effect seeps inside.
Edges are where the parts of ourselves that we no longer need fall off and where the characteristics that we desire seep in.
The desire for new edges means growth is inside you.
Pay attention to your edges; they may want to be made anew.
New Edges are for people who push. People who push their limits and seek something different. People with new edges see their desire for risk then take it. This series of 4 paintings celebrates the people who embrace new edges in their lives.
Black and white pastel play a major role in this series of 4. The dichotomy of black and white reflects on the dichotomy of edges. This series is about the theoretical location in which we rid ourselves of what no longer serves us and where we welcome the various parts of ourselves that we want to expand upon. Green pastel in this series beckons the acknowledgement of the positivity that comes with recognizing and acting upon our edges and boundaries. This work begs the question: are our edges really what matter most?
This cotton paper is beautifully layered with various natural fibers intertwined within its fabric. You will find irregularities in this paper’s texture, which adds to its natural character.
