Your Weight in the World is painted on beautiful olive- charcoal colored cotton rag paper. Thin white pastel lines flank heavier abstract shapes, separating these contrasting forms from one another. This 8.5” x 11.5” pastel, acrylic, and watercolor piece has a delicate approach to abstraction while maintaining impact through rich green and blue tones.

The painting’s shapes represent both how beautiful our individual goals are as well as what threatens to veil our dreams. The predominant shapes in this work, the white, blue, beige, and green forms are going in the same direction upward toward our ideal selves. Yet something is amidst. The thin white lines cap, cloak, and question our goals, threatening to keep us small. Your Weight in the World is a visualization of the weight of our goals and dreams compared the weight of the futile fears and obstacles that threaten to keep us feeling small. My hope is that this painting shows how much stronger and more impactful our dreams are than our fears.

This cotton paper is beautifully layered with various natural fibers intertwined within its fabric. You will find irregularities in this paper’s texture, which adds to its natural character.
