Cafe Culture, Part 3

Cafe Culture, Part 3
Cafe Culture, Part 3, natural coffee ink on cotton rag shizen paper, 5” x 7”
The Cafe Culture series is comprised of 3 paintings, made from 100% natural coffee ink. Created in Korea, these paintings pay homage to the depth of conversations and healing that often happen over coffee in cafes. It is difficult to think of modern Korean design without thinking of its incredibly impressive cafes. A love for coffee has given way to design innovation, deep conversations, and abundant healing for so many.
Like conversations with friends, the ink in these paintings flows naturally across the shizen paper, as it was encouraged to go where it pleased with gentle guidance and subtle artistic movements. The varying directions and unexpected twists in the ink’s flow mimic the unpredictability of healing and growing processes. The ink runs off the paper in each of the 3 paintings within this series, suggesting a continuous, on-going experience.
There is an organic appearance to the design in these works, recalling bamboo, veins, and numerous other naturally occurring plants and processes. The use of natural plant materials to create these paintings and their recollection of so many other plants and processes found in nature reminds us of the interconnectedness of our biological world.
Created on acid-free recycled 100% cotton rag paper, this painting is varnished and ready to ship in its beautiful wood tone frame and white matting. Please allow 1 week of processing and packaging time for this painting before shipping.
