Halt, watercolor and pastel on canvas paper, 9” x 12” 

The two part series, Halt, is made up of airy green and blue watercolor shapes infused with warmer tones. The mix of warm and cool tones gives life to the organically shaped background watercolor forms. The way these soft colors bleed into one another with ease makes them feel part of a larger whole, biologically charged for a purpose. These life-giving forms are interrupted with deep olive interruptions or pastel markings, which challenge the peaceful nature of these watercolor forms. This interruption of the flow of organic shapes splices these works into entirely new sections and proportions, making us hyperaware of their natural flow before such intrusions.

These middle moments, those times in the midst of change, gave way to my favorite watercolor pieces to date, including the Halt series.
