The round 3” x 3” White Russian ornament is hand-painted with deep, dramatic texture that jumps off the surface of the ornament. The entire miniature artwork is painted an off-white color, creating a trompe l’oeil, or trick of the eye. The differentiation of the texture from the ornament’s surface beckons the question: which feature takes precedence, texture or color? This neutrality of this ornament recalls both a snowy holiday season as well as a sense of emotional and physical peace. Despite its dichotomy between texture and color, this ornament finds complete tranquil resolution.
