Warm Awakening, Part 1, watercolor and pastel on canvas paper, 9” x 12” 

The two part Warm Awakening series is made up of warm organic watercolor shapes, beautifully flowing and interacting with one another in the background of these paintings. These firey colors represent a lively, awakened spirit recalling biological activity and life. These life-giving forms are interrupted with bright periwinkle and hot pink interruptions or pastel markings, which challenge the harmonious nature of these lively warm watercolor forms. This interruption of the flow of organic shapes splices these works into entirely new sections and proportions, making us hyperaware of their natural flow before such intrusions.

These middle moments, those times in the midst of change, gave way to my favorite watercolor pieces to date, including the Warm Awakening series.
