This airy watercolor painting, made of both cool and warm tones, recreates a soft approach to organic life on a cellular level, recalling natural processes that many of us take for granted. If we should find ourselves so fortunate, numerous biological processes serve as a subtle backdrop in many of our lives. Bold terracotta pastel lines, or interruptions, challenge the peaceful nature of these processes, interrupting the flow of organic shapes, slicing this painting into unexpected sections and proportions. The mix of both subtle pencil and bold pastel interruptions represent both the incremental and major changes that we experience, whether it be as a result of illness, dislocation, or loss.  

These middle moments, those times in the midst of change, gave way to my favorite watercolor pieces to date, including Amoeba.
